Ella & Ollie

By Fig Tree

When I think about the coming of Spring, certain memories from my childhood and that of my kids when they were younger come back to me like a flood. Sometimes they’re bittersweet, especially since my dad has now passed away, these memories are as vivid as if they had happened yesterday. They often come with a myriad of colors and images. This collection is a small ode to some of those memories. Created around a vintage print that has been in my collection since a flea market trip with my dad many years ago, this collection is filled with springtime florals, a nostalgic text print and a few of my all-time favorite basics! With colors like Strawberry, Seaglass and Daisy, Ella & Ollie is a nod to the gentle images of Spring!

Evelyn's Homestead

By Betsy Chutchian

Evelyn’s Homestead is based on the life of Evelyn Cameron 1868-1928. Evelyn was a well-to-do Englishwoman who came to Montana on her honeymoon with husband Ewen. Married in London in 1889, the couple sought an adventurous honeymoon in the wilds of Montana. They quickly fell in love with fresh air, the game and the untamed wilderness. Instead of returning home, Evelyn purchased land and began ranching, importing polo ponies to breed and sell back in England. The venture was a disaster. Evelyn’s money ran out within a few years but by then, Evelyn was relishing all aspects of ranch life. To make ends meet, she took in English boarders. When one of them left behind a camera, Evelyn taught herself how to use it and traveled throughout the region photographing the people of Montana, especially the hardy women who could do everything. She was fascinated by the how-to’s of pioneer life. There wasn’t a chore on the ranch that Evelyn couldn’t do her self and she loved every minute.

Fresh Cut Flowers

By Kansas Troubles

In my garden, in the surrounding fields and throughout my home, I live with flowers. Perennials and annuals bloom in beds edged with brick and stone, and sometimes a few wildflowers find their way from the field to my garden. It is this garden that inspired the floral appliqués, the simple piercing that echoes he edgings, and the soft border – there isn’t anything formal about this garden, it’s beauty comes from nature’s simplicity.

Harmony

By Sweetwater

The month of January isn’t high on the list of most people’s favorite months, including ours. And then it inspired our Harmony collection.

Right after Christmas, at the coldest time of the year, our favorite home decor store debuts it’s Spring catalog. (I’m sure most of you can guess what store it is.) It’s always my favorite because, whiteout fail, it features the most beautiful shade of blue. They call it ‘’Indigo’’, which is a much fancier word than blue. But it’s still blue. Whatever name it’s given, that blue makes me happy, even in what might be the dreariest month of the year.

Victoria

By 3 Sisters

While epitomizing gentility and refinement, Queen Victoria was also a model for modern women – strong, independent and a working mother devoted to her children. The palette of rouge, blue and ivory can be soft, pretty and a bit romantic, or it can be fresh, feminine spin on the classic patriotic colors of Great Britain and the colonies. Classic or modern, the 3 Sisters think you’ll find this collection suits your style.PDF Moda

Longitude Batiks

By Kate Spain

It’s a companion to Latitude, this collection of batiks bring a lush, saturated and beautiful global palette to your sewing projects. What I love about batiks is the way the process is visible in the finished fabric – from the hands of the artisans who interpret my designs to layers of color applied in the flowing water of dye baths. The irregularity of the prints themselves is a celebration of imperfection and connects the spirit of creativity across continents and into your sewing space…and heart.

Mama always dreamed of a little white cottage with blue trim, one with a garden out back and the bustle of grand babies and chickens around her feet. When the time came, she bought that little cottage and set to work making it her own. After a fresh coat of paint brightened up the place, she hung the family picture on the wall and got something delicious in the oven. Those grand babies play out on the tree swing while their parents have something cool to drink and rest on the porch swing. Happiness is here and you’re always welcome. Come visit!

First Romance

By Kristyne Czepuryk

First Romance… because m creative first loves are sewing and quilting, and this is my debut collection as a fabric designer. I am also romantic at heart, adoring all things that speak to romance. I am drawn to patchwork with small pieces so these prints have been created with that in mind. These tiny prints are perfect for quilts, bags, sweet café curtains and pillows, even little girl’s dresses- any kind of creative project that works best with small-scale pieces and prints. My hope is that the bright, happy prints in this feedsack- inspired collection evoke feelings of youth, sweetness and a sense of naïveté, and that First Romance will inspire you to make many pretty little things by hand.

I am a third-generation farmer’s daughter. We might be practical women but we also love pretty things. Ask my Grandma about the first purchase she made as a 12-year old after the Depression and she’ll tell you about the beautiful floral prints from the Montgomery Ward catalog that cost $.60 a yard. Imagine that! My own Mama tells about how she loved getting cows down from the pasture each evening because she could gather wild irises and dandelions along the way. Being at Grandma’s farm meant sleeping on brass beds covered with handmade quilts made from carefully saved scraps of pretty fabrics.

Oak Grove Lane

By Kathy Schmitz

When the leaves begin their colorful transformation to crimson, gold and orange, I feel a great sense of peace. When I was growing up, these changes marked a new school year and I loved going back to school. There was nothing like a new pack of crayons, new fancy shoes and seeing old friends. Right around the corner would be Halloween and Thanksgiving, a time to gather the family together, be thankful, and eat way too much candy. This fabric line brought back a lot of cozy childhood memories for me and I wanted to include the little things I still find fascinating, like acorns and squirrels, using the warm colors of the fall.

Atelier de France

By French General

This collection celebrates the 20th Anniversary of French General. Twenty years ago, I started going to France to collect the antique fabrics that made my heart sing. The faded red florals, old tickings and small prints all seemed to blend together perfectly. But it wasn’t until Cheryl, Lissa and Joanna knocked on the front door of French General ten years ago that I realized my treasures would make beautiful quilting fabrics! For Atelier de France, I chose some of my most favorite prints and wovens, and colored them in the classic French General palette of old reds, pinks, and neutrals.

At Home defines our Midwestern state of mind. Barb and I both love being in our homes, surrounded by family and friends, being able to sit in our favorite chairs. Perhaps Jane Austen said it best when she wrote: “There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.”

The lovely prints included in the collection are toasty and relaxing, and will blend with any decor. No matter what you make, be it a quilt, pillow or another item, you’ll love the warmth added to your home.

Ahoy, Me Hearties

By Janet Clare

Picture this: clear blue skies, a wide, deep, mysterious ocean as dar as the eye can see. There are favorable sailing conditions, gulls soaring overhead and it’s just you with the wind in your hair on a trusty little yacht, hoping for a glimpse of a whale or two. Sailing the blue, it’s the very stuff that daydreams are made of.

Harvest Hill

By Kansas Troubles

My grandchildren inspire me every day. They’re smart, witty and adventurous of spirit, and they have strong values and a determination to succeed. The world they live in is so different than the one of my childhood, I don’t remember being so engaged in current events or concerned about the future. These quilts are dedicated to the unique individuals emerging before my eyes. My classic Kansas Troubles fabric collection offers a warm and cozy palette to soften the hard edges of the world they’re discovering.

Graces Garden

By Betsy Chutchian

Grace is a composite of women who sought to bring grace and beauty to their homes regardless of station. Gardening brought peace, beauty and food for their tables. It gave a respite from the chores of the day, a time for reflection, beauty, grace and satisfaction. As women often did, they translated what they saw around them into needlework and made beautiful heirloom quilts or simple, everyday quilts with a purpose in the care of the family.

Biscuits & Gravy

By BasicGrey

From scratch and farm-fresh, Biscuits & Gravy is the perfect blend of supreme comfort and down-home goodness. It’s just so delicious and decadently rich, we love the way it warms our heart and home!

I have so many fond memories of the delicious foods my grandma would make. Applesauce cookies? They were one of my favorites. But grandma’s biscuits and gravy is my idea of the all-time supreme comfort food. With that in mind, I set out to create a collection that would look and feel exactly like biscuits and gravy tastes. Indescribably flaky biscuits topped with a rich, creamy sausage gravy. How can that not translate into awesome fabric? Who wouldn’t want to snuggle up with that?

Big Sky

By Annie Brady

Annie Brady’s first collection for Moda Fabrics is a journey into the Montana wild. Out the past urban cityscape, the sky opens up and seems to go on and forever. There are mountains and forests, deep valleys and rivers… it’s a place where animals and nature reign. There are no cars or people, but it’s far from quiet as the forest has its own kind of language. Listen closely to the sounds, of bear, moose and buffalo, of birdsong and the wind in the trees. The rush of the water and the sound of leaves and stone underfoot… breathe it all in. This is Big Sky Country.

Tuppence

By Shannon Gillman Orr

It’s all in the details… Tuppence is inspired by the imagery of an afternoon spent drinking tea in a garden, of cobbled paths leading to a country cottage, of mass-covered walls and flowerbeds filled with cabbage roses and tulips. Inside the cottage, there are vintage terrariums and painted portraits, floral wallpapers and tufted lounges filled with needlepoint pillows. It’s the story of a life well-lived.

Fragile

By Zen Chic

If you are looking for the beauty of pureness and simplicity – Zen Chic is always the name that pops up. It is known for sophisticated modern graphics and harmonious color palettes and the newest of Zen Chic’s collections ‘Fragile’ meets that all. Taken from Scandinavian interior style, the color palette contrasts the lightness of white with the darkness of charcoal, and bridges this gap with hues of silver fine-line patterns speak the language of fragility: dots and thin stripes, fragments of plus signs and text pages. Zen Chic’s new group quotes the poem: “…caught between a strong mind and a fragile heart.”

Shibori II

By Debbie Madden

This collection celebrates the unique shades of blue – indigo. Shibori II is rooted in the ancient designs of Japan and Japanese Shibori artists, yet it contemporary and modern. Worked into a traditional quilt design, it could fit in with antique Boro stitched textiles. And used to make a modern quilt, Shibori will work in a contemporary home. The soft soothing blue shades of the sky and sea make this collection perfect for a baby quilt or pillows on a sofa, a focal piece or accents. The varied textures and patterns are bold enough to stand alone, or can easily be mixed with just a few other prints or solids.

Hushabye Hollow

By Lydia Nelson

Hushabye Hollow imagines the nighttime ritual of a forested valley abundant with little creatures. A glass of milk “night-cap” for a sleepy owl, a beaver brushing his teeth after a long day of chomping and a skunk taking a bath with a bucket in the woods. There’s also a fox strumming a lullaby on the moon reading himself to sleep. These motifs are accompanied by vines and soft florals, ladybugs of the forest and pin-dots, vintage ticking and all of the animals in their slumber. These fabrics are perfect for boys and girls alike with their soft colors and timeless feel.

Authentic Etc.

By Sweet Water

After eight years and twenty-four collections, we decided it was time to go back to the beginning. Authentic was our first collection with Moda and it debuted at Spring Quilt Market way back in 2009. While we might have other favorites, Authentic will always be first in our hearts. It is also the collection we’re asked most often to reprint. We resisted for a long time because there can only be one Authentic. But the process of adding some fresh designs to a few old favorites made the collection new again. We call it Authentic, Etc. and we are so excited for the opportunity to revisit our first line – it feels like home!
