Hooray! Pantone has revealed it’s official color for 2019: Living Coral. A vibrant-pinky-peachy-orangy hue that is vibrant and classy, relevant and flattering. Living Coral is well-suited for accents in the interior. The applications can vary from decorative furnishings and art, to upholstery and fabrics, or even lights and walls. According to Pantone, Living Coral is “An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge”.

It is time to add some energy this dull January, so we’ve rounded up the best home deco to be found in this beautiful color. Happiness, here we come!

About the Color Living Coral

“Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent colour mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.”

Isn’t that a beautiful way to describe a colour?

In this fast paced world of technology and social media, Living Coral takes us to the tranquil depths of the ocean floor where colour fascinates and invigorates our senses. We’re more connected to social media than to our natural surroundings, and Living Coral is our reminder to reconnect – letting go of envy, comparison, guilt and competition.

Its an energising colour associated with our desired need for optimism and joyful pursuits – it really does make us calm, grounded and happy!

Like the presence on the calcifying coral reefs from which it takes its name, Living Coral is perhaps at its most powerful when it’s only found in small doses.

How to add Living Coral into your home?

Start small. Use candles, a eye-catching carpet or a quilted throw.  Or just go all the way and create your Living (Coral) Room.

Hues of Living Coral in fabrics

Living Coral gained popularity in the fabric ranges last year (Kaffe Fassett’s for example), but we’re sure we’ll be seeing more during 2019. The Colour of the Year influences the designers and trendsetters, so it will be prominent in our home decor… and also in our clothing, art, food, hair and paint colors.
